Voëlkop – the male breakaway place where you can enjoy the Bushveld in a fun way. Just near the Magaliesberg and not more than one-and-a-half hours from Johannesburg, or one hour from Pretoria on the Sun City road, you will find a slice of nature, which since 1989 has been taken care of by Paul and Glenn to provide an exclusive hiding place from city life.
Electricity has been installed discreetly so as not to detract from the farm's rustic charm. Go for a walk in the bush; relax at the two pools (one cold and one heated); social with each other and ease out in the steam room. Watch the sunset from the bar deck and enjoy a snack or meal at reasonable prices.
The Voëlkop climate allows you to have a tan all year round. See the event page if you want to let your hair down.
(Clothing is optional, as the farm is totally private and run exclusively for gay men. However, you are by no means obliged to remove your clothes.)
Remember the following Voëlkop essentials:
Mosquito repellent (This is a malaria-free area – thus no malaria prophylaxis needed).
Sunblock (Throughout the year – the sun is hot, even in winter!).
Towels (bath and swimming).
Bedding (For a small fee, arrangements can be made for tourists).
Crockery, cutlery and cooking utensils (depending on the kind of accommodation you choose – See Accommodation page).
Wood, charcoal, and ice are on sale.
A full bar available.
Please report at the bar upon arrival and in order to make sure that you have a care free stay, all accounts are settled in advance and you can even add an additional amount to your tab to use for drinks or meals. The balance is paid to you in cash upon departure.
Brits is only 20km away with all amenities and full shopping (Banks, ATMs, foreign exchange, supermarket shopping, etc.)
The Restaurant serves home-cooked meals daily. Light meals always available through the day. You can thus save yourself the hassle of cooking.
